Ace has the mera mera fruit powers, that allow him to control, become, and use fire. Anything that fire can do, Ace can do it. He can use it as projectiles, as small fire lights, as a heater, anything. Of course, he's not able to swim or get near water, but that's not because of his fire powers, but because it's a side effect of eating a devil fruit.
personality: Ace is a very happy go lucky guy, he likes to make others smile, specially people he loves and admires. He loves to eat, specially if it's for free, and he would join in on any celebration even if not invited. He is very serious when it comes to following his dreams though, even though he doesn't tell anyone what he really wants. He wants to be someone worthy, to be his own person and to prove to the world that he is not just a shadow of his father, and he takes this as his life goal. He wants to be loved, and because of this, he makes sure he gives those he thinks his love and care all he can give.
With love and acceptance as motivation, Ace is capable of doing anything for the people he cares about, which is shown in the manganime when he first appears in front of Luffy and his crowd, and how he's willing to fight alongside them in order to protect them. He also tends to be very carefree and to go with the flow of things, which is why he tends to join celebrations even when he's not invited. Even though he tends to do carefree things he still focuses on his main goal, which in the series was to make Whitebeard (whom he considers his father) proud of him.
One thing Ace has is that he's extremely stubborn. He is the kind of person who wouldn't take a no as an answer, and this stubbornness of his can be really extreme, to the point that it leads him to his downfall. He will (and does) go to the end of the world to make someone pay for wronging someone he loves. He is willing to sacrifice his time, powers, resources, and himself in order to bring the ones he loves justice.
He tends to not trust people very easily, due to his parentage and the fact that he knows people would hate him if they knew who he actually was. He shies away from unknown people and tries to keep a smile on his face at all times. He hates the idea of ever being compared to his father, and he hates his father even more just for being who he was. He keeps his identity hidden, afraid that people might reject him and hate him, and he's afraid someone might kill him for being the pirate king's son (Which, technically, is the reason he's going to be publicly executed before Luffy saves him).
Even though the people he loves are his strength and reason for living, they are also his biggest weakness. He can't stand to see the people he loves being hurt, sick, or betrayed. He puts his loyalties higher than anything else, so when Blackbeard betrays Whitebeard, Ace goes after him after being told not to. Even though this brought him the most amount of pain he has ever experienced as he was thrown in jail, he never once regretted it because it was to make things right. When he gains his freedom and Whitebeard is insulted he stands up for the old pirate, ultimately sacrificing himself to save the life of his younger brother. His last words are directed towards his brother, telling him he was thankful for his family, his crew, and his captain for loving him.
